Celebrating International Nurses Day

On 12 May, Leigh Place joined our colleagues globally in celebrating International Nurses Day.

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every year on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

The theme for this year’s event was Our Nurses. Our Future. with a focus on learning from the lessons of the pandemic, and translating this into actions for the future.

On International Nurses Day, we acknowledge the compassion, professionalism, and commitment of nurses caring for those in residential aged care, at Leigh Place, and around the world.

This year, we said thank you to the Leigh Place team with a celebratory lunch.

Joe Azzi, Chief Executive Officer, thanked our dedicated nurses for everything they do for the community, not just on 12 May, but every day.

“Nurses play an invaluable part in the aged care system and in our community,” he said. “These highly skilled and trained professionals play a key role in the care and wellbeing of older Australians, including our wonderful residents at Leigh Place.”

We hope that you will join us in celebrating and championing our aged care nurses and carers, who bring so much to the lives of those in our care!
